Bill Lloyd, el misterioso hombre ocultado entre las sombras, comenzó a captar la atención del público en 1998, cuando Placebo le incorporaron en sus conciertos como apoyo instrumental. Pero lo cierto es que el inicio de su relación se remonta años atrás y que las aportaciones de Bill a Placebo van mucho más allá del escenario.
Bill Lloyd, the mysterious man hidden in the shadows, started to hold the attention of the audience in 1998, when Placebo joined him in their gigs as instrumental support. But the fact is that the beginning of their relationship goes back to years behind and Bill's contributions goes beyond the stage.

Bill y Brian se conocieron en 1994 en el festival de Edimburgo donde Bill actuaba con su grupo Faith's Over Reason como teloneros de Jeff Buckley. La conexión entre ambos debió ser instantánea porque Bill no se lo pensó dos veces cuando tuvo la oportunidad de ver en directo a la banda en la que Brian tocaba. Quedó impresionado por lo que vio y escuchó y en ese mismo instante tuvo claro que llegarían lejos.
Bill and Brian met each other in 1994 in the Edinburgh Festival where Bill was playing with his band Faith's Over Reason supporting Jeff Buckley. The connection between them had to be immediate because Bill didn't think twice when had the chance to see in live the band in which Brian was playing. What he listened and saw impressed him and in that very moment he saw clearly that they would go a long way.

Como Bill había trabajado para una discográfica, solían pedirle consejo sobre que pasos dar en las arenas movedizas de la industria musical. Así, Bill se convirtió no solo en guía de su carrera musical sino también en guía en las carreteras. Y es que por aquel tiempo el presupuesto no daba para mucho y Bill se ofreció a llevarles en su furgoneta dondequiera que un concierto tuvieran. Hicieron los tres primeros tours de esta manera durante los cuales Bill también se encargaba de la preparación del equipo y el sonido.
As Bill had worked for a record company, they used to ask him for advice about what steps they had to take on the quicksand of the music industry. So, Bill became not just their guide on their musical careers but on the roads. At that time, the budget wasn't a big one and he offered his services to take them wherever they had a gig. They did the three first tours like that during which Bill also set their gear up and did sound for them.

La intuición de Bill no falló cuando les propuso grabar un single compartido con Soup, el grupo del que formaba parte entonces. Así fue como Placebo grabó, para el sello Fierce Panda, su primer single Bruise Pristine. Una primera llamada de atención tanto al público como a los ejecutivos del negocio que no tardó en dar sus frutos.
Bill's intuition wasn't wrong when he proposed them to record a double A- side together with Soup, the Bill's band then. That was how Placebo recorded, for the Fierce Panda label, their first single Bruise Pristine. A way of attracting the audience and businessmen that wasn't long in being fruitful.

El cometido inicial de Bill, cuando se subió por primera vez al escenario con Placebo, era tocar partes sencillas de tres canciones. Pero poco a poco aquello fue creciendo y actualmente rara es la vez en que no vemos a Bill tocando algún instrumento tras el ampli de Stefan.
The initial Bill's task, the first time he came on the stage with Placebo, was to play simple parts on three songs. But little by little it was growing and nowadays we don't rarely see him playing some instrument behind Stefan' s amp.

Además de todo esto, siempre hecha una mano en el trabajo de estudio - en la canción Pepping Tom del álbum Black Market Music, fue finalmente su bajo el que quedó registrado- e incluso ha producido junto a Stefan "Evalia", una de las caras b del single The Bitter End.
Besides all this, he's always giving a hand on the studio - in fact on the track Pepping Tom on Black Market Music album it was his bass performance that was recorded finally- even he has produced together with Stefan "Evalia", one of the b-sides on the single The Bitter End.
